Club Runs And Training Rides - 10-01-2012
As the warmer weather approaches (I have to have hope!) attention turns to club runs and how best to manage them.
It is generally accepted that change is necessary, so no need to use this forum to go on the offensive, just use it constructively to suggest the way forward.
How about a Club Run that starts at the normal time, with a training ride that leaves half an hour later?
Thoughts and suggestions here please.

Balancing a good ride with a young family is crucial. I start my rides early so as to be back early. 7 oaks tri club have a range of rides on Saturdays and Sundays - the one of interest to me is the fast riders who start at 7am and are finished by 10 am with no cafe stop just riding. 7am is pushing it but a ride starting at 8 and being back at home by 11 would be good.

I looked to see what other clubs do. The simplest format I found was from our neighbours, Seeds

Ed, thanks for the input. There is already a split with longer-earlier, later-faster appearing. Based on current training methods, what would be most beneficial to those wanting a hard ride/training session on a Sunday?

The training ride and club run/s could start just 15 minuters apart with the fatser guy leaving first thus little chance of coming across each other on the way to the cafe.
I suggest those in the 'training group' are just those who plan to race in 2012 thus keeping things tightly focused. Potential racers to have a plan and abide by it.As a level2 club coach and a RR TT specific as such I can coach both indiviuals and groups. If you want me to help just speak or send a message

Rather that half an hour later why not have the "training ride" leave half an hour earlier? Therefore not only a harder ride but for a longer time.

how about we all start at the same time, ride for a while together, so one can have a bit of small talk, the training group can then split off do a one and a half hour session and meet at the cafe at the same time as the steady group, morrison would lay in bed all day if he could, no wonder the country is going downhill.

If i can get an extra haif hour in bed
