Q & A.
Q. What is a reliability Trial?
A. They have a long history and the aim was to demonstrate to your club that you could be relied upon to follow route instructions and finish the course in the time you signed up for. The route will have some signing and there will be two check points where you need to get your card signed.
Q. How long are the two routes?
A. The long one is 50 miles and the shorter 28 miles.
Q. What is the time range for completion of each event?
A. For the long event 3hrs, 3.5 hrs and 4 hrs. The short one 2hrs and 2.5 hrs.
Q. How much is it to enter?
A. £5 for either the long or short routes.
Q. Can I enter on line?
A. Entry is on the day only. We have never had too many riders.
Q. What time does the H.Q. open and close?
A. From 08:30 till 14:00
Q. Is food/drink free?
A. No free as we want to generate lots of money to donate to charity. Hot and cold drink plus a variety of food will be on sale.
Q. Do I need insurance?
A. It is advisable to take out 3rd party insurance by being a member of the Cycling Tourists Club or British Cycling -make sure you have the right class of membership in the latter case.. You may be covered on your household policy for 3rd party liability but it’s wise to check if you intend to rely on it.
Q. Is parental consent required for riders under the age of 18?
A. Yes. This must be completed by the parent or assigned guardian at the event H.Q. or down loaded from the CTC website and brought to the event filled in and signed.
Riders will be set off in groups of no more than ten riders in size and you are requested not to form a larger group for your safety and the chances of being stopped by the police for obstructing traffic. Only ride two abreast when the roads and traffic flow allow. Lanes are defiantly single file.
The Highway Code must be obeyed as to ignore it could be used in a court of law against you, if a claim is made or the police stop you.
Do not abuse other road users or members of the public and refrain from discarding food wrappers and sachets.
We advise that you wear a cycling helmet.
Last but not least you should carry I.D. with the contact number for next of kin who is not riding.
