Weekend round up - 02-06-2008
Alan Brown was attempting his first goal of the season which was to beat the age record for a 30 mile time trial down on the coast. Alan missed his target by just 13 seconds.
Elsewhere the club had 8 starters at the Chiltern Sportive. This proved to be a real tough challenge with some 2,500 metres of climbing and 107 miles in total. Mick Hardy was riding well and finished first in his age group. All were full of praise for the event organisers with a well signed route and good refreshments. The only complaint can be the steepness of the hills together with their regularity....
Tony Meilak was to be found en route putting in some miles ahead of an Italian Gran Fondo.
Terry was riding well but was hampered by two punctures that will have stopped his chances of a silver.
Well done to Mark and Anthony for being good samaritans and helping change the wheel for a lady with a puncture. This lady was very brave and kissed both of them despite the fact they had covered 80 miles and would have smelt rather nasty.
