Twenty two on a club run again - 26-11-2007

In Winter things usually quieten down a little bit with riders being put off by the cold and not wanting to jump out of bed. It came as quite a shock to rumourmill to spot 22 riders at the start this Sunday. Whether it is the new kit that is generating the excitement or just the desire to burn calories off before the Christmas season this is excellent going. Peter Holman took the medium paced group joined by Jim Miller and two new riders who have recently moved to the area. The quicker group had larger numbers and this did lead to the group fragmenting slightly on the way to Westerham and the cafe on the green.

Rumourmill was pleased to see Mark Morrison riding strongly having been off the bike for a couple of weeks. Special mention is required for the following riders this week:

- Gary for shooting off on Cudham Lane only to be overtaken by several riders as he tired

- David for accepting the challenge to ramp up the pace on Cudham Lane which he duly did only to spill out the back minutes later

- Either Terry or Darren. Rumourmill is unsure quite which of these two riders faced such tired legs on the climb at Hosey Common Road that they arrived at the cafe once most of the others had ordered. As Darren is a new rider we will blame Terry

- Chris for modelling the new club gilet with such style (did rumourmill really hear Terry say that he looked as though he was riding a horse?)

- Mac for the fact that he must still have been eating his full English breakfast whilst back on the bike and cycling home. Rumourmill did feel sorry for Mac as the pace picked up after the cafe stop and that full breakfast must surely have been coming up for air!
