Rumours from the club run - 14-10-2007
Rumourmill was given various reports on the numbers at today's run. Numbers started at 20 at the meeting point with Claire and Anthony joining to make it 22. Somebody else said there was 20 in the quick group with four in the medium fast group. Who knows who is correct - Rumourmill counted twenty at the cafe in Penshurst which is a good number. At the cafe there were two or three other groups and it was hard to spot a table that had anybody other than cyclists! When the new club kit arrives it will look impressive if we can all be out in the correct colours.
Larry met us at the cafe today having made his own way there.
Terry is talking about racing next year. He may need to splash out on some new rim tape though having punctured twice in about 50 metres at the top of Igtham Mote. This puncture splintered the group as half the group was at the t-junction at the bottom before realising anything was wrong. To avoid the loss of any new recruits we may need to put somebody at the back with some local knowledge. Either that or provide everyone with a mobile and a telephone number of the local taxi company!
Rumors have been surfacing of several new recruits signing up for the KCA reliability trial without really knowing what happens at a reliability trial. Rumourmill is not going to provide further details or an explanation about what happens but is happy to report that he believes you will all be better people for the experience. Just remember the energy drink and your smiles :-) Hint - best to go with somebody who knows the route else you'll spend all day reading the route card rather than cycling.
