As the warmer weather approaches (I have to have hope!) attention turns to club runs and how best to manage them. It is generally accepted that change is necessary, so no need to use this forum to go on the offensive, just use it constructively...

Rumourmill on missing left turns - 05-08-2007

The club had a good turn out for the club run with plenty of members in club kit which looked great. Club president Alan Brown had skived off from racing to join us and Terry was out trying to prove a point to Anthony and Claire on the hills.

Special mention today goes to Steve who decided he wanted to put in a few extra hard training miles. At Goathurst Common the route took a left turn and despite a group waiting at the turn and counting heads, Steve managed to slip past and descended Ide Hill probably cursing the group for not waiting. At the bottom common sense told him that we would have turned left but despite this he carried straight on and further away from the intended cafe destination near Brands Hatch. Whilst the main group headed towards Sevenoaks and the cafe, Steve managed to take in a route that went towards Edenbridge then towards Westerham, he then headed to Eynsford and eventually turned to climb up to the cafe. At this point rumourmill remembers a comment Alan made "At least Steve knows the lanes round this way and will be able to make it to the cafe without too much effort"!

It seems that Terry has gone noisy. His bottom bracket is making so much noise you can hear him coming a long way off. Gary meanwhile is spinning away as he is currently unable to use the big chain ring. That maintenance training at Sidcup cycles may not be a bad thing...

Some rumours picked up today:

The club may organise a trip to a sportive in Northern France as a little event with which to round off the year. More details shortly.

The Flanders trip was discussed over the cafe stop so you may want to save the date - this is usually close to Easter.

Bexley CC have invited us to take part in some roller evenings on Wednesday nights once the time trial season is over. Best of all is that there is a bar at their club house which may make "rolling" that little bit easier.

Alan is trying to get Peter the taxi driver into a West Kent top that is smaller than the large size Peter requested. Far be it for Rumourmill to spread rumours about fetishes but you have to wonder...
