Rumourmill on a head to head clash - 06-07-2009
Quick reminder that club night is this Tuesday
A number of club members helped out at the London Youth games on Saturday. It was great to see so many youngsters out on their bikes and racing although slightly worrying that many of them had bikes that were more expensive than mine! I can only hope that the youngsters riding a Look 486 carbon frame and the full carbon Colnago C50 appreciate how good their bikes are. When I was their age.......
This weekend saw the first of two important head to head encounters in the time trial scene. It was for bragging rights in the Hitchings household. Rumourmill is glad to report that he came out on top in the 25 on the Q25/8. Claire put in a pb on her first outing on this course.
Next weekend the clash steps up a level. Chris Gould and Peter Thomas are head to head on the E2 for a 10 mile dash. Could this be the decider for the ten mile trophy? Or maybe just bragging rights for the next few weeks :-)
Some times from the Q25/8 on Sunday
Anthony Hitchings 1.4.09
Alan Brown 1.4.50
Claire Hitchings 1.5.51
Peter Thomas 1.6.07
An honest reporter might take time to explain the time for Peter Thomas but I am feeling slightly devilish so no such luck.
Chris Gould rode the Shaftesbury 25 on Saturday on the E2 putting in a 34.30 to the turn and a 25 return for a time under the hour - 59.29. Chris reports "A constant headwind breeze on the way out slowed everyone down. I cracked several times on the outward leg - very nice coming back though. First '25' with the aggressive aero position. Both legs locked up 30 seconds after the finish. I had to get Diana to take my shoes off and had to walk around for 30 minutes before I dared sit down in the car to come home. I felt pretty stupid hobbling around the HQ!"

A quick reminder that plans have been put in place for two road races to decide club road race trophies. It would be great to have a good turn out at these events and ensure that the winner is worthy of the title.
