Rumourmill on Claire qualifying for the world championships in Oz plus tt times - 11-05-2009
Well who would have thought that Claire would be grateful for Jamie waking up in the middle of the night. That was the case this Sunday though when Claire set her alarm clock an hour too late and as a result would have missed her race had Jamie not woken up and requested a feed at the time that her alarm clock should have been set for. As it was Claire survived the open water swim, caught all bar three of them up on the bike leg and then only allowed one lady to overtake on the run to finish in fifth place overall. This is not bad going as the race was a qualifier for the world championships in Oz and will have attracted a strong field from across the South of England. Claire's time and second place in her age group has seen her qualify for the GB squad for the triathlon world championships and the family Hitch will be heading to Oz in September.
Terry was racing at Hogs Hill on Saturday. He also rode last Sunday with LVRC and verified the Rumourmill of Reg riding a time trial in the morning and a race in the afternoon. Rumourmill picked up on Tel's use of the phrase "early season" to understand that he still coming into form.
There was more early returns for full English breakfasts amongst the time trial brigade. Peter Thomas managed a 1.03.00 and Alan Brown 1.05.00 at the Wigmore CC event. Alan Brown is to claim an age record. Ben Instone set a new course and event record with a 52.08. Next weekend it is a Medway velo event on the Q25/8.Last update is from the Wednesday Bexley 10.
