Ride leaders required by British cycling - 29-06-2009

Ride Leaders required - a new exciting opportunity!

As a board member of British Cycling I would like to make you aware of an opportunity to be part of an exciting new cycling programme this summer. As part of an initiative to get more people outside and enjoying themselves on bikes, British Cycling and Sky are teaming up to give the general public the chance to get out on their bikes in a fun and safe environment.
We are looking to recruit and train around 300 Ride Leaders to assist in the delivery of this programme. There are many benefits on offer for Ride Leaders including free training where they can learn how to lead the rides, payment for each ride they lead and a branded jersey. If they're not already British Cycling members, we'll also give them free Everyday Cycling membership for a year.

The programme will see a series of led rides taking place throughout the summer between July 1st and October 31st in London, Leicester, Manchester, Glasgow and Preston and the surrounding areas. There will be chances for everyone with a bike to get involved, with routes for riders of all levels of experience.

To become a Ride Leader you could be a qualified Coach, Bikeability Instructor or simply a member of a club with experience of leading other riders. As some of the rides will also be on the public highway, Ride Leaders should regularly ride on the road and be confident riding with traffic. We want you to get on board to show everyone how much fun you can have on two wheels.

If this sounds like something you, or someone you know, would be interested in, please click on the link below or phone 0161 274 2063 for further details and to find out how to register to become a qualified Ride Leader as part of this exciting new programme.

It would be very much appreciated if you could promote this opportunity by passing through your cycling networks.

Kind regards,

Geoffrey Hodgson
