How to spot a mid life crisis in cyclists - 08-08-2008
Rumourmill was sent a snippet of information this week that one of our club members has signed up to the KCA 12 hour event. It sparked a few thoughts as to why would somebody who usually races 30 - 40 miles suddenly undertake such a challenge? The truth then dawned and spawned the basis of a guide how to spot a mid life crisis in a cyclist.
1) They join the club on a Sportive and be obsessed with gold standard
2) They ride the Paris Roubaix Sportive or other such nutty adventure that you know they will not enjoy
3) They make a return to road racing having previously retired
4) They sign up to a marathon time trial such as the 12 or 24 hour event having never previously ridden so much as a 50 or 100
5) They are pleased with the switch of a hill climb course to something that is longer and tougher than the previous course
Can you guess who has signed up to the KCA 12 hour based on this guide?
If you have any other tips on how to spot a mid life crisis please e-mail them to Rumourmill and I'll add them to the list...
