First rumourmill of the year - 14-01-2009
A new year and already the news and gossip are piling up.Firstly, congratulations to Graham Phipps on the birth of his twins. They were born on December 19 and weighed in at 7lb 4 and 7lb 1 which is a fair weight for twins. They have been named Dominic and Nathaniel and Rumourmill is pleased to hear that Dominic is already developing a good pedalling action, albeit on his back. Warm wishes go out to Graham and his family.
The club reliability trial on Sunday will have raised well over £700 for our chosen charities. Well done to Ed for organising and thanks to all helpers. Yet again, the tea bar was the best for any cycling event in the area and brought in some £200.
There is one club member who has taken a few tumbles in recent years. Congratulations go to Tel for having his tumble whilst out on a steady ride rather than during a race. ( I am allowed to write that having fallen whilst riding as his two up partner!)
A Hardy club member has this year signed up as a first claim club member rather than second claim. His insurance is through LVRC. Are we putting two and two together with the suggestion that we might be seeing a return to racing action.
The social secretary is moving into action. Expect to hear news of a "social" day trip to France that is in the planning. Sounds like the intention is to do a ride and stop at a restaurant or cafe.
In addition to Terry Tours organising a trip to Flanders, Mark Wright is investigating a summer trip to Morzine of about five days that will include a day watching the Tour. More news to come hopefully.
Tropy hunters beware! Our secret weapon is in training and has put in his order for a top of the range skinsuit. Mind you, so has El Presidente :-)
