Claire leads 1 2 3 for 7oaks Triathlon Club in local duathlon - 16-10-2008
7oaks Triathlon club were out in force at the WhiteOak Fast and Furious
Duathlon held in Eynsford, taking the first three spots in the ladies'
event. Claire Hitchings took first place in a time of 1 hour 19.52 in her
first ever duathlon, two minutes ahead of her teammate. The event comprised
a 5km run, then a 23km bike ride followed by another 5km run. The bike
section was by far Claire's best leg with a time of 35.32. The bike route
went out and back along the Eynsford to Otford road, which is the route she
takes to the start of club runs so had the advantage of knowing where all
the climbs and drags were. It's fair to say she may have got a bit excited
on the first 5km run section clocking 20.09, which slowed to more of a plod
on the second (24.16). After the event she said, "I'm not sure why I do
multi-events - I hate running!"
