Castle Ride - 02-12-2007
This is a charity ride starting at Tonbridge castle - always a good day out if a few of us fancy putting together an entry.
1st December 2007
Dear Castle Rider
We hope you had a great summer and managed to get out and about on your bikes, despite the awful weather we had; and for those that live in and around Kent we hope you were lucky enough to catch the Tour de France, as it weaved its way through the county, what a fantastic spectacle it was.
With the 2007 Castle Ride being such a success and the interest that is rapidly mounting in this event, we felt that our riders would like to know how next year’s event is progressing. So over the coming months, we will be bringing you news on items such as route details, training advice, human-interest stories and more in the form of a regular newsletter.
Continuing to build on this success and listening to the feedback we received, the event team is now busy making plans for Castle Ride 2008, which takes place on Sunday 18th May. It promises to be even bigger and better! It will be a day, not just for cyclists, but a day that family and friends can also enjoy.
In 2007 over 400 riders took part of all ages and from all over the UK, and raised an amazing £30k for action medical research and the touching tiny lives campaign.
A big thank you goes out you to all of you that worked so hard to get sponsorship.
With the Tour de France inspiring many people to take up cycling, we expect an increase in the number of riders taking part in the 2008 Castle ride to 600. Changes to the route are being made, to make your ride even more enjoyable, but still challenging, don’t worry it doesn’t mean more hills! Improvements to the back up services are also being made to make your day trouble free as possible.
The Castle Ride is fast becoming one of the highlights of the South East cycling calendar and registration is now open for 2008. You can register your place for the 2008 Castle Ride on line NOW at www.castleride.org or you can contact Mark Trott at castle@action.org.uk if you would like an entry form.
