Bike Britain - 06-01-2010

Hello.

Happy New Year to you.

Pardon the intrusion, but allow me to introduce myself. My name is Jonathan Medhurst and I am one of the founder's of a company called bikebritain ltd. In essence, bikebritain is a cycling tour, the first event of which will be held in August this year.

What is bikebritain?

Inspired by a rekindled love of cycling and an interest in making a difference, the bikebritain adventure was founded in mid 2009. Our vision is a cycling event that showcases some of the best scenery the UK can offer and celebrates the communities that make up the diverse tapestry of our country. What also makes bikebritain special is the community support your participation provides. A portion of your fee will put towards supporting the local communities where the tour cycles through. bikebritain - a tour with a heart. bikebritain captures some of the momentum created by the British Olympic Cycling team, the British achievements in Le Tour 09, as well as the sports current popular appeal. Put together, these elements will make bikebritain an experience people will want to be a part of for years to come.

The tour itself is a challenging 7 day ride across English and Scottish border country, taking in the awe inspiring and undulating countryside. Beginning at Newcastle Racecourse to the north of the city we head west (and probably against the wind!) cycling through Kielder Water & Forest Park, eventually arriving at the Scottish town of Castle Douglas, our most westerly overnight resting place. Heading north-east through the Scottish borders, we continue on to Moffat and Jedburgh. From Jedburgh we return to England, cycling past the impressive Bamburgh Castle perched imperiously on the Northumberland coastline. Alnwick is our final overnight destination and here we will be staying in the vicinity of the famous Alnwick Castle. Home is almost in sight! Following the coast, we head south-west and ultimately finish where we began at Newcastle Racecourse, about 800 km later.

To find out more and to register your interest in this year’s event, visit our website at www.bikebritain.org. Additional information about the event, the route and the places where we’ll be staying can also be found there.

We are very keen to hear any feedback you might have concerning the proposition and our website, www.bikebritain.org. Receiving comments from people who live and breathe cycling is the only way we can improve. Obviously we would prefer to make our introduction in person, but unfortunately time does permit us this courtesy. If you have any questions or wish to learn more about bikebritain, please feel free to email us here at ride@bikebritain.org.

In the meantime, have a great 2010 and enjoy the ride.

Best Regards,

bikebritain ltd
