Anyone for a team entry to a sportive - 18-12-2007
If anyone fancies entering as a team please let Anthony know and I'll see if there is sufficient interest to enter a team.
Welcome to the Chiltern Hundred Challenge 2008
I’m writing to invite you and your cycle club to enter a team to the Chiltern Hundred Challenge cyclosportive. The event will be held on Sunday 1st June 2008. All details will be available on the event website, which has been thoroughly updated at www.chiltern-hundred.org.uk .
Team entry available - a first for UK Cyclosportives !
The most significant change this year is to introduce a team event in addition to the individual event. Last year a number of clubs and groups participated but on the basis of individual entries. Having entered sportives either alone or in a group I reckon you can have more fun in a group. I also know how difficult it is to get all your mates co-ordinated and signed up by the time an event becomes fully subscribed.
So to make it easier for groups, if you can get a team (a club, a charity, mates, or whatever) of 6 or more riders to enter we will guarantee entries up to an initial maximum of 12. To register as a team you or your co-ordinator needs to send an email to teams@chiltern-hundred.org.uk (we are open for team registration now) and supply the following details:
· Team name
· Co-ordinator’s name
· Co-ordinator’s email address
· Co-ordinator’s phone number
· Number of places required (maximum 12, minimum 6, additional places can be arranged if places permit)
200 places have been allotted for team entry. We will guarantee entry up to the number of places required, until all 200 places are taken. At this stage we don’t need to know your riders names.
Following team registration we will send details of how team riders are to complete online entry. The co-ordinator’s role is to get the team’s riders to sign up. We’ll give you more places if you require once your allocated places have been assigned, providing we have team places remaining. Team riders provide their details, accept the event disclaimer, and pay online in the normal way just like individual entrants.
The co-ordinator will receive progress reports on team rider registration. For teams that fail to get 6 riders registered by 1st April we will reassign remaining places to other teams. Those riders that are signed up will then be treated as individual entrants.
It’s not just about getting guaranteed places. There will be ride standards for teams just like for individuals and these will be based on individual awards, so if your team has 6 riders that achieve a silver individual award the team will receive a silver award. It’s not a race and your ‘scoring 6’ will not necessarily be the fastest 6 but the 6 that perform best in the individual awards.
In summary the key points for team entry are:
· Ride and enter as a team
· Guaranteed entry once team registration secured
· Team Awards based on Gold, Silver and Bronze standards
· Teams can be clubs, charities, work mates or any other group of riders
· 200 places set aside for teams
· The only commitment for a team is to nominate a team co-ordinator for all communications and to confirm the number of entries required. Please do not nominate riders at team registration
· Up to 12 entries allocated per team at outset, with further places allocated subject to availability
· Teams accepted from 1st December 2007
· Online entry for team riders from 1st February 2008 with £15 entry
· Teams without 6 riders signed up by 1st April 2008 lose team status; entered riders are then treated as individual entries
· Team riders have till 21st April 2008 to sign up
I look forward to your team registration.
